It’s not vandalism. It’s VisCom.

Making design relevant and accessible to students of color is essential for developing the next generation of Black and Latinx communication professionals. For students of color, there is the Type Stylin’ Project.

THE MISSION

Our mission is to radically change the face of design with regard to diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Utilizing a culturally appropriate curriculum, we connect students of color to educational opportunities in Visual Communication through street art and graffiti.

KNOW THE NUMBERS

Black people account for only 3.7% of all arts, design, and media professionals.

Latinx people account for only 13.1% of all arts, design, and media professionals.

Today consumers of color possess an estimated $3.1 trillion of buying power.

The US population is estimated to be a majority-minority by the year 2060.

Considering the growing population of people of color in America, the profession of Visual Communication must strive for parity in employment as the US becomes increasingly multicultural. As America’s demographics begin to change, so will the economic influence of people of color.
